Here’s a classic T-Bone Walker lick. Nothing too tricky to play here, but fantastic note choice and rhythm: a great one to steal and add to your own blues trick bag. Because it contains the major 3rd, this one works best over the I chord in the blues – in this case a Bb7 chord. Also notice how T-Bone emphasises the 13th (G note) quite a bit, which is a big part of the lick’s jazzy flavour. I’ve written out the music below.
