This lick is a current favourite of mine. There’s quite a bit going on here – several position shifts, precision bending, hybrid picking, wide interval leaps – so make sure you take it slowly to start with, and pay attention to the details of picking and fingering if you want it to sound smooth at speed. The lick is written out below. The “m” above certain tab numbers indicates the notes you can play with the middle finger of your picking hand if you want to have a go at hybrid picking. It works equally well if you play these notes with an upstroke of the pick instead, it will just lack a bit of that country snap and twang.
