Another Sex Pistols track following on from my recent look at the classic Anarchy in the U.K. This is a less-well known track but contains some more excellent Steve Jones riffs and a couple of excellent lead breaks too.

Miserlou
With this track Dick Dale single-handedly invented surf guitar. It’s an all -time classic and well worth taking the time to learn. I’ve broken my tutorial up into two parts. In the first part, I talk about the ‘Miserlou scale’ and break down the main theme. In part 2, I discuss the trumpet solo, the B section, and give you a few surf tone tips.

Halloween by Siouxsie & The Banshees
My very first Halloween special. But it’s a song I wanted to look at anyway. See more genius from John McGeoch.

Vestapol – Acoustic Classic
In this lesson I’m investigating the finger-style blues standard that goes by the name of Vestapol. It’s quite mysterious piece of music that many people have played in many different ways. I attempt to get to the bottom of things with a nice, playable arrangement of the tune.
I realised I inadvertently failed to discuss the way I play the V chord in the first chorus – it must have got accidentally chopped out when I edited the video. I hope you’ll be able to figure out what’s going on by watching the slow play through. The tab for that bit is shown below. The thumb sticks to the 4th and 5th strings.

Anarchy In The UK by The Sex Pistols
A Pistols classic. Some easy power chords riffle and 2 exquisite solos!
Here’s the Steve Jones interview I mention in the lesson. Well worth checking out – funny, informative and some good close-up shots of his playing style.
