My Best Friend’s Girl by The Cars
I’ve been meaning to make a video on this one for a while. It’s one of my favourite Cars tracks and full of amazing guitar parts. There are actually 2 videos. Part one covers Ric Ocasek’s and Elliot Easton’s rhythm parts along with some of the extra parts and fills. Then in video 2 there’s a detailed breakdown of the guitar solo – one of the greatest ever, if you ask me.

D For Dangerous by The Reverend Horton Heat
In this video I’m taking a detailed look at a fabulous psychobilly instrumental from The Reverend Horton Heat. It’s a real virtuoso display from the RHH guitarist Jim Heath. If you want to learn the whole track then it will be something of a commitment, but the track is full of great licks and bits of rockabilly vocabulary, so feel free to sift through it and learn one or two licks that grab you.
Tab and Backing Track
A detailed and accurate tab for the entire track can be found on my Patreon page. I cover all the little licks and variations you can hear in the recording, some of which I didn’t have time to describe in the video. You can also play long to my backing track, with awesome real drums from my friend Steve Duffy.
Brand New Cadillac by Vince Taylor
In this lesson I’m looking at the song Brand New Cadillac. Not the wonderful Clash recording, but the equally wonderful original version by Vince Taylor. It features some awesome guitar work by British session great Joe Moretti and if you want to work on your rock n roll/rockabilly playing, this one contains some essential vocabulary.

Bebop-A-Lula by Gene Vincent/Cliff Gallup
Let’s learn an all-time classic bit of rock roll/rockabilly.
Tab/Backing Track
A detailed tab and great sounding backing track can be found on my Patreon page. It works on a monthly subscription basis, but you can pay whatever you want, and leave whenever you want.
Human Fly by The Cramps
Another great Cramps song (if you’ve not seen my Goo Goo Muck video check it out here). Interesting Human Fly fact: the track was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, produced by Alex Chilton of Big Star.
Backing Track
The backing I play along to at the start of the video is my own and is available to anyone who signs up to my Patreon page.
Music/Tab
I’ve written out the Poison Ivy part in full below. The fuzz guitar part and PDFs of both parts can be found on my Patreon page.
