A detailed look at the brilliant Edwyn Collins track. The rhythm guitar part sounds great and is super beginner-friendly – just 3 chords. I also discuss the weird envelope filtered verse part and get into some of those fuzz riffs.

Maid in Heaven by Bebop Deluxe/Bill Nelson
This is my first ever Bebop Deluxe lesson. This one contains some fantastic guitar work from the great unsung British guitar hero Bill Nelson. A masterclass in inventive, melodic rhythm playing and soloing.
In My Room by The Beach Boys
My arrangement of the 1963 Beach Boys classic. Tab is available on the Patreon page.
What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace Love & Understanding by Nick Lowe
In this video, I’m looking at a Nick Lowe classic. First I take you through the basic chords so you can strum it Costello-style, then I look at a surf-style instrumental version, as played by Los Straitjackets.Tab and backing track can be found on Patreon.
My Best Friend’s Girl by The Cars
I’ve been meaning to make a video on this one for a while. It’s one of my favourite Cars tracks and full of amazing guitar parts. There are actually 2 videos. Part one covers Ric Ocasek’s and Elliot Easton’s rhythm parts along with some of the extra parts and fills. Then in video 2 there’s a detailed breakdown of the guitar solo – one of the greatest ever, if you ask me.

Girl Afraid by The Smiths
Time for another Smiths lesson, kids. Someone in the YouTube comments described this as the Mount Everest of Johnny Marr guitar parts which I think is about right. Certainly very challenging, but very satisfying to play once you get the hang of it.
