A detailed guitar lesson on Night Shift from Siouxsie and the Banshees’ 1981 album Juju. Covering all the main guitar parts including the opening riff, arpeggios, chorus chords and the instrumental section, with some attention to how John McGeoch used simple ideas to great atmospheric effect. Gear and tone covered towards the end (Jazzmaster, MXR flanger, delay).
Power Chords
Death Trip by Iggy & The Stooges
This is the final track on he mighty Raw Power album and the final track in my series of Raw Power lessons.
Shake Appeal by Iggy & The Stooges
I thought it was time I looked at another track from the classic Raw Power album. Face-melting riffage and soloing from the legend James Williamson. Tab can be found on Patreon.
(I’m) Stranded by The Saints
This is one of the greatest punk songs ever. Tab can be found on Patreon.
My Best Friend’s Girl by The Cars
I’ve been meaning to make a video on this one for a while. It’s one of my favourite Cars tracks and full of amazing guitar parts. There are actually 2 videos. Part one covers Ric Ocasek’s and Elliot Easton’s rhythm parts along with some of the extra parts and fills. Then in video 2 there’s a detailed breakdown of the guitar solo – one of the greatest ever, if you ask me.

I’m Bored by Iggy pop
I’ve looked at quite a few Stooges tracks previously on this site, but here I have a classic track from Iggy’s 3rd solo record New Values. It’s a fantastic song with some great riffs and soloing from Scott Thurston.
As usual, tab and backing track can be found on my Patreon page.
